Each Ford Super Duty truck is getting some style upgrades, but for most drivers, the cosmetics aren’t going to be the main attraction. At the top of the Ford Super Duty engine lineup lies the new 6.7-liter PowerStroke® turbo-diesel V8 engine. We don’t have the exact stats on this model just yet, but this is going to be the most powerful engine and the ideal choice for drivers who want to maximize their towing power.
The big news is probably the introduction of a brand new 7.3-liter gasoline V8 engine. It replaces the 6.8-liter V10 engine found in previous models and marks the first time the Ford Super Duty series has seen a major change in its gasoline engine lineup in more than two decades. This new V8 engine puts out 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, edging out any other gasoline V8 engine-powered truck in its class. This engine will debut in the 2020 Ford F-250 and Ford F-350, migrating to other Ford Super Duty trucks later on.
The big change is the new ten-speed automatic transmission, available in Ford Super Duty models up to the 2020 Ford F-600. It’s based on the transmission found in the Ford F-150 and boosts fuel economy while providing additional driving modes.
