Rumors have been spreading for the past several weeks regarding the possible release of a 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt Edition. The rumors surfaced after leaked images from a Ford commercial show what appears to be a Green Ford Mustang.
For those unfamiliar with the trim. The Ford Mustang Bullitt originally appeared in the 1968 hit film Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen. The movie featured a memorable car chase scene involving a green Ford Mustang GT 390 Fastback. That model became known as the Bullitt.
A Ford Mustang Bullitt with the same Dark Highland Green hue was released in 2001 and 2008 as a homage to the film. After all these years, it looks like the model will be making a comeback in 2018.
Over the years, there have been speculations about what became of the original Ford Mustang used in the film. There are recent rumors that it was spotted in Mexico. Another rumor was that the car was scrapped after filming due to the damage sustained while filming the chase scene.

The release of a special edition 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt would also make sense since the release would coincide with the film’s 49th anniversary.
Based on a leaked image of a specification sheet, it’s believed the 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt will have a V8 5.0-liter Coyote engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It will also have dark two-tone wheels. Additional add-ons include dual-zone climate control, multiple drive modes, and a SYNC3 infotainment system.
