Even though the 2016 SEMA show ended earlier this month, people are still talking about it. The Ford brand especially made an impact. Three of its vehicles, the Ford F150, Ford Mustang, and Ford Focus all earned SEMA’s Hottest awards for their respective segments. That’s not all, though.
The Ford Focus also saw a new concept model, one that produces a whopping 500 horsepower. The Ford Focus RS is built by the car tuning company Roush Performance. The engine under the hood is a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. To get to 500 hp, Roush Performance added a three-way adjustable suspension kit. For comparison’s sake, the regular EcoBoost engine delivers 350 hp.
It’s not just the engine that got a boost. It also received 19-inch wheels courtesy of Weld Racing. These tires are designed for the tracks and enable the Ford Focus RS to fully exploit its drift mode capability.
Other improvements in the performance department include an enhanced cooling system and slotted brake rotors.
The exterior received a treatment as well. It got a TrackPak bodykit. The paint also got special treatment with custom striping and XPEL Stealth Paint protection. To top it off, it received a new diffuser, a custom rear wing, a new front splitter, and air extractors embedded in the hood.
On the subject of the compact sedan, the 2016 Ford Focus RS was also showcased at the 2016 World Endurance Championship in Shanghai, where it competed with other customized cars in its class.
